Issyk-Kul prepares for a global event. Held around Issyk-Kul in 2014 for the first time with the initiative of Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambaev, the World Nomad Games received positive feedback and returns for a new event this year. Held around Issyk-Kul on September 3, 2016 and sponsored by Turkish Airlines, the opening ceremony and the ethnic games (increased from 10 to 23) are expected to be attended by many guests from various countries. Aimed at attracting notice to the richness of cultural differences in a globalized world, the event will also host workshops to promote Kyrgyz folklore in
boz-üys (Kyrgyz tents) installed on a mountainous area. Organizing martial arts, riding, archery and hunting contests, the event will also offer regional delicacies and hold conferences on the historical heritage of nomadism. Kyrgyz people excitedly await this event to proudly promote their traditional games which feed on their nomadic roots.
